Sani Datti, Head Media and Public Relations, NEMATODE.
The National Emergency Management Agency has reiterated its readiness to continue to support and sustain partnership with all the State Emergency Management Agencies towards robust and effective emergency preparedness, response and mitigation in the country.
The Director General, Muhammad Sani Sidi stated this at a stakeholders meeting on coordination of humanitarian services for post conflict recovery and reconstruction in Yobe State.
He said the agency would never relent in providing support to the states, not only in the area of humanitarian intervention, but also in the area of capacity building for its key stakeholders as disaster and emergencies have become part of human societal evolution.
“Disasters allow us to rebuild back our communities with greater level of resilience and stronger capacity for adaptation. We must use the current post disaster reconstruction, rehabilitation and recovery phase to rebuild our communities in a sustainable manner and restore the past glory of North east region and its people.” he said.
He commended the hospitality and great sense of duty by the people of the North east region especially Yobe, Adamawa and Borno that at the peak of displacement period, people were able to accommodate more than ninety percent of the displaced persons and were generous enough to share with them the meager resources at their disposal.
Sani Sidi also thanked the United Nation organizations and International Non- Governmental organizations for responding to the crisis in the Northeast and commended their efforts toward building resilience  and their support to state and Federal government agencies and others partners.
