The Abomination 19

Must read

Written by Mary Babafada.
Gazing at the ceiling, with her back caressing the mattress, Lara laid beside Kola deep in her thoughts wondering how all these will end up.
To think that her dear husband actually connived with his friend to impregnate her just to save their marriage hmmmm……. Still in the valley of her thoughts, it’s even more complicated because there’s a third party involved.
Lara paused, she just couldn’t bear the guilt any more, not just for herself but also for Kola. “No!” She voiced out,  “I must talk this over with him to ease all these guilt pangs.”
Placing her soft hand on Kola’s head, as a way of suppressing her worries, Lara whispered to Kola in a soft musical tune that melts his heart….
Kola laid quiet unable to respond to her call, he knew that they were about to cross a very difficult bridge with what she was about to say. His mind raced with the speed of a Chetah pondering over what his dear wife was about to say. He was between sleep and…
Lara was determined as she began to sing his favourite love song; then she went on to whisper in his ears and telling him all she knew about that fateful night.
But…she began to hear his even breathing and light snoring, just like it was any time he was dog tired.
Lara couldn’t believe she sang him to sleep: she should have known better because it had happened in the past.
She drifted off to sleep as she made up her mind to discuss the matter the next evening.
Suddenly, she was startled with the loud alarm beside the bed, It brought her back to the reality of the breaking of the day. “Ooh… ” she said silently, shaking her head, when she recalled the previous night.
Lara smiled with mixed feelings pecking Kola on the cheek. Oh! How she loved this guy. She stood up as he went to do his morning things, and said a prayer, thanking God for seeing another day, however she still asked for forgiveness because of the guilt feelings.
She just wondered if she and Kola would ever be forgiven.
He came out of the bathroom and knelt beside her. He led the devotional time as they executed what he often described as the mini-church time:15 minutes praise and worship in songs; 15 minutes of shared prayer time with him leading; and 15 minutes reading of a bible passage, laced with insights. They spent the last 15 for family matters.
Today’s was particularly tense as no mention was made by either of them, again, of the grave sins to be forgiven.
Kola’s conscience was gnawing at him, as usual, for the hypocrisy of their devotional time. This must be dealt with tonight he swore as he started the ignition and drove off.
Lara watched him drive away, and the tears began to flow, as it has been doing for weeks.
