How lost and found Asmau was lured away with promise of a phone

Must read

Remember Miss. Asmau Ajibade? The lost but found 15 years old secondary school student who was “abducted” was allegedly master-minded by a neighbourhood cobbler, Moses, and his security guard friend, John.
They have both been arrested and are to face the full length of the law.
But, that is half the story. Parents and Guardians ought to be aware how she was easily lured away:
Everyday.NG learnt from a family friend the modus operandi of those who sequestered her, ostensibly with her consent, for days.
“A young man lured her away with a cell phone! which the parents could afford a thousand times over. They did not give her one wanting her to concentrate on her studies.
“The mum, a retired very senior government functionary had expressed disgust that young people do no other thing than telephoning, chatting, gisting and sending text messages or watching videos.
“Believing she was protecting the daughter from the distracting wonders of our time she declined to buy her daughter any.
“So, those of us who are old are in trouble the way we look at the world today and interpret it!!! What a heavy price to pay to bring us in line with the times!!!” the source said and lamented.
Media reports disclosed that a guard in Igbo Elerin, in the Agbara area of Ogun State, was arrested by the police for allegedly abducting the Junior Secondary School 2 pupil.
Moses was said to have arranged John, who kept the girl in his abode while the nerve-racking search was on..
On Monday, September 18, according to reports, Moses had fixed Asmau’s sandals, and shortly after she was declared missing.
Actually, the promise of the phone had played a major role in her “consenting” to be taken away.
Additional reports by The Punch reads further: “It was, however, said the girl was found in Oko Afo, Badagry, last Saturday by a family friend of the guardians.
One of the guardians, Alhaji Rauf Adetona, said Ajibade confessed that it was the cobbler who hooked her up with John, adding that she spent four days with the lover.
He said, “When the cobbler saw your (The PUNCH) report on her disappearance, he informed John. When John tried to return her to the estate, she fled. She spent four days with John. We found her school uniform with John.
“A family friend saw her in Oko Afo, Badagry, and called us. She wanted to run away from him because she knows him. But the man lied to her that he would never tell us.
“They agreed to meet somewhere in the community the following day and that was how we found her.
“She took us to the house where John works as a guard and said it was Moses who hooked her up with John. The police have arrested the two of them.”
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed John and Moses’ arrest.
“The girl has been reunited with her guardians and the suspects arrested. They will be arraigned for abduction,” he added.
