Alleged husband killer refused bail, though clutching baby and prayer beads

Clutching tightly to her baby and a prayer rosary were not enough to sway an
FCT High Court, in Jabi, FCT, to give interim bail to alleged husband killer, Maryam Sanda.
In fact, three other members of her family, including her embattled mother, Maimuna Aliyu, are to charged with for tampering with evidence after the fact of murder, according to the Police lawyer, James Idachaba, who spoke with journalists outside the court.
They are being sought by the Police to be served with the charges.
Maimuna is answering charges in the same court for alleged fraud.
Clad in a veil and rushed through a battery of reporters into and out of court, it was a pitiable sight with the baby looking distressed by the drama around. The judge, Musa Haliru, had to ask that the crying baby be taken out of the court room..
She was ordered back to the prison as the court refused the oral application for bail. She is to be re-arraigned next Thursday.
The FCT Police Command in a two-count charge accused Maryam, of allegedly killing her husband, Bilyamin Bello, the ward of Alhaji Bello Halliru Muhammad, a former chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
She allegedly stabbed him in the chest, but he died on his way to the hospital.
