APC NWC Defies Governor, Dissolves Zamfara State Party Executives at all levels

Must read

The face-off between the Zamfara State Governor, Abdulaziz Yari, and the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the party’s governorship primaries has taken a turn for the worse as the NWC has expelled the Party executives in Zamfara State at all levels.
The primaries in Zamfara were cancelled after violence erupted midway into the exercise. A Senator, Kabir Marafa, claimed he was winning before it was disrupted; accusing his political rival, Governor Yari, of been behind the fiasco.
He pointedly accused Yari of setting the State on fire in a statement. Marafa said, “Yari set the state on fire just to perfect his plot to upturn the people’s will and impose on them stooges with the sole aim of continuing with his misrule through proxies after May 29, 2019.
A statement by party spokesman, Mr. Yekini Nabena, stated that by the decision of NWC, “all supposed Party factions in Zamfara State stands dissolved.”
He added: “The NWC-inaugurated committee for Zamfara State are to conduct the Governorship and Legislative primaries in the State. Hence, the Zamfara State Governor, H.E. Alh. Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari and the dissolved executives in the state should not interfere in the primary elections in the State.
In another statement, Nabena clarified that the National Working Committee (NWC) disqualified and barred Party executives at all levels in Zamfara State from participating in the rescheduled APC primaries in the state.

“This is in compliance with an order of the court to that effect.
“Therefore, all affected officers should not play any role in the rescheduled primaries.
“Furthermore, the Governorship primaries for Zamfara State will hold tomorrow 6th October, 2018 while the Legislative primaries will hold on Sunday 7th October, 2018.
“Government officials are warned not to interfere in the process,” the statement added.
