Onnoghen’s motion suffers defeat at Court of Appeal

Must read

A motion by the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen, to stop his trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) has been thrown out.
The motion for a stay of proceedings suffered failure on Wednesday in Abuja.
Onnoghen is being prosecuted by the federal government for not declaring some portions of his financial assets. He was suspended from office by President Muhammadu Buhari  based on an order of the CCT.
He was immediately replaced by the justice next in line, Tanko Muhammad.
But both justices are facing “trial” by the National Judicial Council (NJC), which has given them seven days to respond to petitions against them.
