Courtesy of a live radio programme where he was confronted by teachers who were freshly employed by his predecessor, but left at home, the Zamfara State Governor has ordered the resumption of the 556 teachers. They will start smiling monthly to the bank this month for their paychecks.

Before the teachers, an earlier number of 1040 other civil servants out of the 1400 recruited by the state government, but left in the lurch without their entitlements, were reinstated.

This second batch opted for legal action at the Kano Industrial Court. The court ruled in favour of the complainants.

The approval for the 556 teachers, a statement from a government spokesman, Yusuf Idris Gusau, said followed a directive from the State chief executive, Governor Bello Matawalle, to the Head of Service, Alhaji Kabiru Balarabe, for their immediate reinstatement.

Matawalle commended the teachers for their patience and urged them to be of good conduct in the state civil Service.

The reinstatement is part of the administration’s policy of listening to and addressing reasonable and genuine complaints that affect the well-being of the state citizens, the spokesman said.

Some of the teachers complained to the governor on Monday when he featured on a Zamfara Radio Programme of “Zuwa da kai” where he immediately directed the state head of Service, to verify the genuineness of their complaints and report back to him.

After the Head of Service verified their claims to be true, a reinstatement order was issued.
