Bello announces opening of Abuja Metro road as FCT gets free drugs and equipment

After years of meandering through traffic to access parts of the Central Business District, a major arterial way leading to the airport axis and the Abuja Metro railway station has been opened for residents and drive-through travellers.

Announcing the opening which has slightly esed traffic at rush hours, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Mohammed Bello, said, “I have the pleasure to inform Abuja residents and visitors alike that they can now drive right into the Metro Station of the Abuja Light rail and the World Trade Center in the Central Business District, via the Constitution Avenue, because the FCT Administration has completed critical portions of that very important road.

“We are committed to completing more projects to improve quality of life and enhance the ease of doing business in the FCT.”

Bello has often been criticised for his slow pace of developing and rehabilitating facilities in Abuja

Meanwhile, in its bid to compliment government efforts towards the reduction of maternal and child mortality in the country, the Rotary International District 9125, has distributed drugs and hospital equipment to seven states and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.

Presenting the donations to the FCT Health and Human Services Secretariat (HHSS) a representative of Rotary Club, Dr Kolawole Owoka, said the group is contributing its quota to reducing maternal and infant mortality rate as part of its efforts at helping humanity.

According to Owoka, Rotary international under the maternal and child health quality assurance project is donating the essential hospitals equipment and drugs to improve the health of inhabitants of the territory.

He added that the project is to compliment government efforts in the reduction of maternal and child health care. The other states to benefit from the distribution of this equipment and drugs Osun, Ondo, Enugu, Ebonyi, Anambra, Kaduna and Kano.

Receiving the medical equipment on behalf of the FCT Administration, the Acting Secretary, Mr. Musa Abdulraheem, accompanied by the General Manager FCT Hospitals Management Board Dr. Aminu Mai, said the items will be put to judicious FCT Hospitals adding that it will be used to reduce the incidence of Maternal and Child mortality in the FCT.

Among the items received are one each of Suction Machine,Delivery couches, Fetoscope, Pulse Oximeter, Oxygen Concentrator, Instrument Sterilizer, Sterilizing Drum set, Baby Weighing Scale, Sphygmomanometer with Trolley, Ambu bags (adult and pediatric), Injection Oxytocin 500ampoules(5×10), Injection magnesium sulphate 500ampoules(10×50), Bottles of multivitamin 200(20×10), Bottles of Vitamin Syrups 200(20×10) and Bottles of Vitamin Bco 100 (10×10).

The acting secretary thanked the group for complimenting government efforts in saving the livers of mothers and children.
