INEC officials under investigation over N84 million meant for ad-hoc staff used in last elections

Following a petition that ad-hoc staff used in the last general elections in Zamfara State were short-changed in the allowances paid to them, the Sokoto Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes 
Commission (EFCC) has arrested three top INEC officials and others.

The top officials are: Hassan Sidi Aliyu, the Administrative Secretary,; Hussain Jafar, Head of Operations,; Abdullahi Yusuf Abubakar, State Accountant. The office of the fourth, Abdulmumin Usman, was not given in the statement by the EFCC  spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren.

They were allegedly involved in conspiracy, breach of trust and criminal diversion of Ad Hoc staff allowance to the tune of N84, 696,000 (Eighty Four Million, Six Hundred and Ninety Six Thousand Naira).
