The Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Anambra state Police command has bursted a kidnap syndicate.
The officers had trailed and arrested them at a their hideout in Ogidi, Idemili North Llocal Government Area headquarters..
The arrested young men and lady aged between 23 and 25 are Onyemechi Aniobi, Elochukwu Okudo and Pauline Elechi.
The suspects had allegedly on Jan 12, 2020 kidnapped a 14 years old Federal Government Girls School student in Onitsha and took her to an undisclosed location which they use as their hideout, and locked her up for 27days.
But on Jan 30, 2020, they contacted the victim’s mother through SMS and demanded for ransom of ten million Naira (N10,000,000) which was later reduced downward after much pleading by the mother.
The suspects equally sent a first Bank account number 3120904371 bearing one John Blessing to the victim’s mother to deposit the ransom if she wanted to see the daughter alive again. They also instructed her never to involve police or any security agency.
Meanwhile, the victim who was held hostage for twenty Seven (27) days and allegedly raped by the suspects was rescued by the Police and taken to hospital for medical examination.
According to a release by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Haruna Mohsmmed, the case is currently under investigation after which the suspects would be charged to court for prosecution.
