Presidency announces Kyari’s death; aide eulogises him

President Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kysri is dead from complications connected to COVID-19.

A terse statement by Presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, announced the death, while a Twitter post by Social Media aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmed, said Kyari was was most misunderstood person.

Adesina announced: “The Presidency regrets to announce the passage of the Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari.

“The deceased had tested positive to the ravaging COVID-19, and had been receiving treatment. But he died on Friday, April 17, 2020.

“May God accept his soul.

“Funeral arrangements will be announced shortly.”

Ahmed, onn his Twitter page: “Abba Kyari certainly was one of the most misunderstood people in the history of Nigeria.

“ Those who had the opportunity to know him personally will tell you how extremely a good person he was.

“A man of honour, will be remembered as someone who sacrificed his life for this country.

“It was Mallam Abba Kyari’s turn last night, my time and your time will definitely come no matter how long it may take. And none of us will be here and healthy in the next 150 years.”
