The Chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC) Nasarawa state chapter, Mr Philip Tatari Shekwo kidnapped by unknown gunmen in his residence on Saturday night, is dead.
Details have been sketchy, but a source said a request for ransom was being expected before the death issue came up. t
Gunmen were said to have stormed the residence of the party chairman in Bukan Sidi in Lafia, at about 10 p.m. and taken him away.
The Commissioner of Police of Nasarawa state, Bola Longe told journalists on Sunday that his men were combed every nook and cranny in an attempt to rescue the APC Chairman.
“We have covered everywhere, we sent our police to comb everywhere. We have done all the necessary things to ensure that he is rescued and by the grace of God he will be rescued,” the CP said.
Shortly after the comments, Shekwo was found dead.
Meanwhile, the Grand Patron, Nigeria Youth Organisation (NYO), Engr. Femi Soetan, has congratulated the Chairman, Board of Trustees, Dr. Rotimi Olulana, the National EXCO and entire Members of NYO for the release of the National President of the Organisation, Amb. Abdullahi Abubakar Wali, from the hostage of Kidnappers after three weeks of captivity.
Recall that the National President of the Organisation, was kidnapped on his way to Kaduna after a rigorous National Assignment to Empower Nigerian Youths, nearly three weeks ago.
Soetan commends those who played vita roles to get Wali released.
In his words, ” I commend the efforts of the Security Forces, especially the TerrorrPol, who led me and the Vice President, North Central Zone, Comrade Austin Akubo, to the scene where his car was in custody of the Mobile Police Force, 17 Kms before Kaduna City to make enquiries and efforts towards his safety and rescue.
Abubakar recently called for the establishment of the National Youth Development Commission (NYDC), and Skills Acquisition Training Centres (SATC) across the 36 states of the federation and the FCT, towards finding amicable solutions to youth restiveness in the country.
