Nine fleeing inmates from Owerri prison caught in Ghana

Nemesis has caught with nine of the over 1800 prisoners who escaped from the Owerri Correctional Centre, in far away Ghana. They were arrested by the Ghanaian police.

They are Emmanuel Obinnah Chiedozie – 27, Steve Eyenuku – 33, Enebeli Lucky – 29, Yommi Usmah – 29, Keli Ekureni -33, Freedom Yusuf – 25, Obi Onuora – 38, Patrick Chanar – 47, and Bless Eyenuku -25.

Gunmen had freed the men two weeks ago, but they were declared wanted by government which shared their names and pictures with Interpol.

A report by the BBC Pidgin Service said they were at Ada Foah Ghana.

Ada Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Francis Somian, disclosed that the Police got a tip-off that led policemen to Clinic Junction Lorry Station where the the fleeing inmates were arrested.

The tip-off, the BBC report said, showed that the fugitive jailbreakers from Nigeria had entered the country via ferry, across River Volta into Ada Foah where they intended to continue their journey to Accra via commercial bus.

Police reveled that the, Suspects were found with Ghanaian and Nigerian currency, some personal belongings, passports, and ID cards.
