73 abducted Zamfara pupils regain freedom

Must read

The remainder of pupils of Government Day Secondary School, Kaya, in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State abducted 12 days ago have been set free.

Indications of their release first appeared on the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA)’s verified Facebook page.

Recall that following the kidnap of school pupils in broad daylight, the Zamfara Government announced a dusk-to-dawn curfew in 13 local government areas in the state.

Then, Police confirmed that 73 students were kidnapped, but there was no word on teachers and staff allegedly picked up along with the students.

Five of the pupils were found within 24 hours, amidst confusion on whether they escaped or were released.

There was no word on whether a ransom was paid for the release of the 73, or was a consequence of the onslaught of security forces against bandits.
