Photos: Why are terrorists releasing photos of abducted train passengers?

Must read

Are they proof of life photos for family members or are they for the consumption of relevant government agencies?

These are two of the puzzling questions nagging watchers as terrorists holding over a hundred passengers of last month’s Kaduna train attack flooded the public space with the photos of the passengers in different groups.

Eight passengers died while 21 others were said to be injured when persons now described as an amalgam of Boko Haram Terrorists breached the security of a Kaduna bound train, bombing it and shooting indiscriminately.

Though they claimed they were not after money, it is believed they negotiated and got paid N100 million for the release of the Managing Director of the Bank of Agriculture, Mr. Alwan Ali Hassan. In a video, the terrorists claimed they released him on account of his age and because of the Ramadan fasting season.

However, there are many other Muslims among those kidnapped, including an 85 years old diabetic woman.

The terrorists are also believed to be pushing for the release of their fellow comrades in government detention. They have threatened to kill their captives, if their demands are not met.
