Nigeria’s current security situation makes it imperative for Federal lawmakers to return to their duty post, political analyst, Polycarp Gbaja, has said.

He was reacting to reports that terrorists, per Channels Television report, have abducted a woman and her four children in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The woman is the daughter-in-law of the village head of Yakawada, Alhaji Rilwanu Saidu, who is the elder brother of the Chairman of the Northern Elders’ Forum( NEF), Professor Ango Abdullahi.

Police authorities have not commented on the incident, but a close relative of the family, Umar Sani, told Channels Television that the woman, Ramatu Samaila, was abducted along with her children from their residence during the attack which occurred on Tuesday night.

He said the bandits in their large numbers invaded Yakawada village and started shooting sporadically before moving to the village head’s residence.

The bandits also kidnapped some residents of the community including one Abubakar Mijinyawa and his two wives, Aisha and Hajara.

The two wives who are both nursing mothers were reportedly taken away along with their babies while a local patrol guard, Aminu Lawal, was killed by the attackers during the attack.

The kidnapping of five members of Professor Abdullahi’s family comes almost four months after his son, Sadiq Abdullahi, and 61 others were abducted by terrorists who attacked an Abuja-Kaduna-bound train on March 28.

For Gbaja, the lawmakers should return to Abuja to impeach their heads, Senate President Ahmad Lawan, Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila, as well as President Muhammadu Buhari, and do a reset of the Nigerian system for a better security of lives and property.

His words in a statement on Thursday morning while reacting to Ango Abdullahi’s predicament: “A very failed Security Architecture that needs to be totally overhauled.

“The present template of fighting terror is clearly proven to be totally obsolete and ineffective.

“The insincerity and inconsistency of this Regime’s position, policy and implementation is a key factor in this failure.

“The resulting cancerous spread and mutations of its expressions is clearly beyond this Regime’s capacity to curb or deal with the calamitous degeneration of security across Nigeria.

“Everyday this Government remains in power, the siege and precipitation of violence against its citizens increases and multiplies hopelessly.

“This pogrom of Nigerians must stop now!

“The President, Senate President and Speaker of House, should, as a matter of honor and responsibility resign immediately.

“The National Assembly NASS should stop their present vacation, meaningless in this present state of extreme national crisis and emergency recall and resume emergency duty to sanction and impeach these key officers and reset what is left, before the situation of national internal destruction becomes irreversible.

“This is a national emergency.”
