It was with a huge sigh of relief that the All Progressives Congress (APC) celebrated its win over Mrs. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Kogi Central Senatorial seat.
“We have won”, they kept shouting at the collation centre.
Engineer Abubakar Sadiku-Ohere of the APC scored 52,132 votes while Natasha polled 51,763 votes to win seat, which she appeared to have been harassed by agents of the state government.
The government was accused of escavating roads leading to Okehi Local Government Area, where Natasha hails from, for what observers said was intended to prevent movement of electoral officers to polling areas.
The government was to deny it targeted Natasha, saying it did it for security reasons.
Prof Rotimi Ajayi, the Collation Officer for the district declared the result Tuesday morning.
