Adamawa: More heads may roll as Buhari approves suspension of REC (+Video)

More heads may roll as President Muhammadu Bihari has approved the suspension of the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Adamawa State, Barrister Hudu Yunusa Ari, while ordering the investigation by the Inspector General of Police, Director-General of the Department of State Services, and the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, of the role of their officers in aiding and abetting the actions of Barr. Hudu Yunusa Ari.

He has directed that if the men are found culpable, appropriate disciplinary actions should be meted out to them.

Already, the Police Commissioner was ordered out of Adamawa by the Inspector-General of Police, after he sat through the illegal declaration of Senator Aisha Binani Dahiru, as winner of the Adamawa gubernatorial polls by Ari.

The heads of the security agencies in Adamawa President Buhari asked to be investigated also sat through the illegal declaration of Binani, in the election won by incumbent governor, Alhaji Adamu Fintiri. He was declared winner by the Returning Officer, Professor Umar Kele.

 

The full statement by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and titled, ‘PRESIDENT BUHARI APPROVES IMMEDIATE SUSPENSION
OF BARR. HUDU YUNUSA ARI, REC, ADAMAWA STATE’, reads, “President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the immediate suspension from office of Barr. Hudu Yunusa Ari, Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), of Adamawa State pending the completion of investigation by the Inspector General of Police on the conduct/actions of the REC during the Supplementary election in Adamawa State.

“The President has directed the immediate investigation and prosecution, if found liable, of Barr. Hudu Yunusa Ari, by the Inspector General of Police.

“Also, the President has directed investigation by the Inspector General of Police, Director-General of the Department of State Services, and the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, of the role of their officers in aiding and abetting the conduct/actions of Barr. Hudu Yunusa Ari and if found culpable, appropriate disciplinary actions, to be meted out to them.”
