Hours adter saying it did not have suspended Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, in its custody, the Department of State Services (DSS) on Saturday confirmed that it now has him for some investigative reasons.
The DSS spokesman, Dr. Peter Afunaya, appealed to the public, particularly the Media, “to apply utmost caution in the reportage and narratives concerning this.”
The DSS had months ago sought a court order to detain Emefiele on alleged terrorism-related issues, but it was rebuffed by the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.
The Central Bank of Nigeria governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele has been suspended from office by President Bola Tinubu.

Recall that a statement by the Director of Information, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Willie Bassey said on Friday “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has suspended the Central Bank Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele, CFR, from office with immediate effect.
“This is sequel to the ongoing investigation of his office and the planned reforms in the financial sector of the economy.
“Mr Emefiele has been directed to immediately hand over the affairs of his office to the Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate), who will act as the Central Bank Governor pending the conclusion of the investigation and the reforms.”
