Again…and again, APC postpones NEC, National Caucus

Must read

The ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) has again shifted its National Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, but it suggests the absence of President Bola Tinubu, who is away at an ECOWAS summit in Guinea-Bissau,  is responsible for the shift of the meetings.

There has been disquiet in the party over the alleged refusal of the National  Working Committee (NWC) to call for the statutory meetings for fear of the sack of embattled Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, and the National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore.

A National Vice Chairman had gone to court to force a meeting, leading to the meetings being summoned for this week.

But a surprise statement on Sunday night by the party’s National Secretary shifted the meeting for a week. The statement reads:

*ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS (APC) – POSTPONEMENT OF NATIONAL CAUCUS AND NATIONAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETINGS TO THE 18TH AND 19TH OF JULY 2023*

“Members of the National Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are hereby informed that our meetings of 10th and 11th of July, 2023, have been postponed to the 18th and 19th of July, 2023, respectively.

“The postponement is necessitated by the regional and sub-regional schedules and engagements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, as the new Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). Inconveniences regretted.”
