(+Video) Battle for Rivers red biro: I am in charge, says Fubara

Must read

Though one of his staunch supporters, Ehie Edison, inexplicably resigned as factional Speaker of the State House of Assembly, and as a state lawmaker, the Governor of Rivers State, Mr. Siminalayi Fubara, on new year’s day, in church, dropped his own bombshell: Those who want to usurp his financial authority as chief executive and financial officer have failed!

Dramatising his position amid resounding cheers, he urged Rivers indigenes not to be frightened, as he was determined to protect their interest.

The viral video of his comments – see below – is believed to be his response to speculations that he had agreed to sell out to his predecessor and his supporters who still want to control the purse of the oil-rich State.

Fubara and Abuja Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike, are believed to be involved in a war of attrition over political and financial control of the state.

Political foes of Wike, including a former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, and his Rivers State supporters, and prominent Ijaw citizens and people are believed to have massed behind Fubara; while others of Rivers extraction, made rich and powerful by Wike are backing the Minister.
