President Tinubu is in Europe, returns today, says aide

After days of uncomfortable silence, President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to return to Nigeria (today) Wednesday after an official trip to Saudi Arabia.

Recall that Everyday.ng reproduced a The Guardian report on Tuesday raising concerns on the President’s whereabout.

He was in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to attend the Special Meeting of the World Economic Forum WEF, which held from April 28 to 29, 2024; but proceeded to Europe, in what now appears to be a private visit.

For six days after the WEF meeting, the president was nowhere to be found, leading to speculations he went for a medical check-up and treatment.

Following the inexplicable silence from the presidency on the country’s chief executive officer, rumours took on a life of their own.

Thankfully, his media aide, Mr Bayo Onanuga announced on Tuesday his principal will be returning Wednesday.

In a statement on his X handle, Onanuga said: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, along with his aides, will return to Nigeria tomorrow from Europe.”

Curiously, Onanuga was silent on the country the President is coming in from, though the UK and France have been recurrently featured in speculations.
