Senate President laments attack on emir, killings ; Police confirm 6 dead, other sources give higher death toll

Home-boy, Senate President, Dr. Ahmad Lawan, has condemned the gun attack in Kaduna on the convoy of one of the traditional rulers of hos State, the Emir of Potiskum, Yobe State, Alhaji Umaru Bubaram. Lawan’s condemnation comes as Police Command in Kaduna State confirmed the death of six people during the attack on the Emir on Tuesday night.
Other unofficial estimates put the number of those killed at over 20 and much more than that as those kidnapped.
The command spokesman Yakubu Sabo told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the incident occurred at about 11:00pm.
NAN gathered several people might have been abducted by the attackers as empty vehicles were left at the scene when government officials visited on Wednesday.
Lawan expressed his condolence with the revered Emir and the families of those killed in the sad incident.
The Senate President also prayed for speedy recovery of the Emir and others who were injured.
Lawan called on the security agencies to ensure that everyone with a hand in the heinous crime is brought to justice.
He also called on the security agencies to ensure quick rescue of those who were abducted in the incident.

It’s not clear as to the degree of injury sustained by the Emir, but Sabo said the monarch was at the Barau Dikko Hospital in Kaduna and was “doing very well.
He said four of those killed were aides of the emir, while two were commutters.
Sabo said the Commissioner of Police Umar Muri had visited the emir at the hospital.
The command’s spokesman said investigation into the incident had commenced.
Gunmen on Tuesday night attacked the convoy of the Emir around Maraban Jos on Kaduna-Zaria road, killing some of the Emir’s aides and leaving others injured.
