An attempt by the Imo State Government (IMSG) to blame the opposition for the attack on the state governor, Hope Uzodinma, by disgruntled staff of the Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ISOPADEC) has been discountenanced by the Police which says it has 15 men in its custody.
The men attacked the convoy of the governor on his way to a military facility in the state capital.
Following the claim by the government that the opposition was behind the attack, the Police commissioner there, Isaac Akinmoyede, said the arrested men were staff of ISOPADEC protesting the non-payment of salaries for three months, adding that they had a locally made pistol and machetes during the attack.
