Many a believer in my day approach their relationship with the LORD with a Casino and Slot Machine mentality. We acquire and exercise a faith, not based on a sound knowledge and understanding of God’s word, but on a gamble. Our Church meetings and conferences then become avenues, not just for Worship and fellowship, but as some sort of “spiritual casinos” to shop for blessings from Heaven, using God’s Word as a slot or bait?
Like the multitudes around Jesus, the goal is hardly to know, worship and serve Him*, but to exploit His word and our relationship with Him for temporary gains and blessings. “Don’t seek me just for ephemeral stuff like bread” -Jesus (my paraphase)
