The way we decimate unquantifiable human capital in Nigeria. This photograph was taken when Maj Gen Hassan Ahmed handed over to Brig Gen Olayinka as Provost Provost Marshal of the Nigerian Army.
From left: Brig Gen OL Olayinka, Maj Gen Ahmed and Brig Gen Kuliya. Olayinka and Kuliya died in the plane crash which killed Lt. Gen Ibrahim Attahiru. Ahmed was assassinated yesterday.
????
How can we explain the wholesale extirpation of this generation of young officers, in peace time, so to say?
Memories are still fresh of the C-130 aircrash in Ejigbo, 1993, when a whole generation of mid-career officers died in an air crash.
How about the former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Ibrahim Attahiru and his principal officers who died in Kaduna the other day?
We were reminded on an Okun platform yesterday, that it was the first anniversary of the untimely demise of Nigeria’s first female combat helicopter pilot, Tolulope Arotile.
Nigeria is increasingly becoming the worst of places to serve one’s country.
