Chief security officer to the former head of state, Late General Sani Abacha, and Chairman Apudi Institute for Peace Studies and Social Rehabilitation, Hamza Al-Mustapha, has called on all Nigerians to pursue only those issues and things that unite us a nation and eschew the things that divide us.
Alhaji Al-Mustapha made this call in Abuja while receiving an Award of Excellence in Humanitarian Service, from a group, APC Grassroots Youth for Change.
The etired soldier turned philanthropist said,, according to a statement from the group, “Nigeria is a beautiful country with diverse peoples who bring different qualities, attributes and services that serve to beautify our country. I can tell you, there is no other country that I know more beautiful that Nigeria. Yes, some of our fathers have made the mistake of taking the wrong steps that have deepened the ethnic fault lines but the young ones should look to the future and see the shared destiny of our people.
“The division of the country into geopolitical zones for instance, is not meant to divide us a people, but to make service delivery and administration more effective”.
Speaking at the award ceremony, the National Coordinator of APC Grassroots Youths for Change, Mr. Orlu Henry Manuchimso, noted that Alhaji Al-Mustapha as a statesman and patriot has remained unwavering in his commitment to a united and democratic Nigeria and pledged to work with him to achieve the dream of a united and equitable country fro all.
