Governorship candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have emerged, and in some cases controversially, like their Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) counterparts. But not so for sitting governors who all had a smooth sail.
Borno State Governor was returned unopposed and is the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the ruling party.
Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, was declared the candidate of the of the party in Ogun State, while Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu won the in Lagos State.
Two other aspirants – Mr Wale Oluwo and Mr Mustapha Olorunfemi – were not cleared for the primary, in which the governor polled 1,182 votes with 12 declared invalid.
Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has emerged in the primary election held in Asaba, the Delta State capital.
He polled 1,190 votes in the election he was the only contestant.
Governor Muhammad Yahaya of Gombe State won the ticket on Thursday through voice affirmation.
In Kwara, Zamfara, Yobe, and Nasarawa States, the sitting governors, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, Bello Matawalle, Mai Mala Buni, Abdullahi Sule won the tickets.
In Plateau State APC Gubernatorial Primary
Dr. Nentawe Yilwada emerged with 803 votes. Other like
Dr. Patrick Dakum got 70 votes; Sonni Tyoden – 25; David Victor Dimka, 7; Hezekiah Dimka, 6; Danyaro Sarpiya – 4; Dr. Fitka , 2; Garba Pwol SAN, 2; and Sunday Biggs, 0.
In Abia, it was controversy galore as three aspirants walked out on the primary election holding in Abia.
Worse, an Abia High Court hours later nullified the victory of Chief Ikechi Emenike at the election.
The court presided over by Justice O. A Chijioke, Thursday in the suit instituted by Mr. Chinedum Nwole and two others, declared that Emenike lacks the locus standi to contest the primary election because he had been suspended from the party.
Tonye Cole won in Rivers, a victory his rival, Senator Magnus Abe rejected.
Speaker of the Ebonyi House of Assembly, Chief Francis Nwifuru won in Ebonyi, polling 743 votes to defeat four other aspirants in the exercise conducted inside the Pa Ngele Oruta Stadium, Abakaliki.
Recall that in the PDP, a former Commissioner in Niger State went home with the ticket. The former Commissioner for Local Government, Community Development and Chieftaincy Affairs in the state, Alhaji Isah Liman Kantigi, polled 667 votes out of the 808 votes cast at the election.
Three delegates lost their lives in the hands of terrorists while on their way to obtain their means of identification to enable them cast their votes.
A former chairman of Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, has won the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship primary ticket of the State.
Caleb polled 252 votes to defeat 13 other aspirants.
Retired Maj.- Gen. Aminu Bande, emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for Kebbi State in the 2023 general elections.
Bande scored 471 out of the 691 votes cast to win the primaries.
Bande, until his retirement, was the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division, Sokoto
Alhaji Dauda Lawal won in Zamfara polling 431 votes to win the ticket.
Dr Ibrahim Shehu scored five votes to emerge second while Alhaji Wadatau Madawaki placed third with three votes.
Alhaji Mohammed Jajari emerged governorship candidate in Borno State.
Jajari polled 487 votes to defeat Mohammed Imam who polled 362 in the primary election held on Wednesday in Borno state.
The Lead Visioner, Lagos4Lagos Movement, Dr Olajide Adediran (Jandor) on Wednesday clinched the PDP ticket.
In Ogun, two factions of the opposition party held parallel governorship primaries in Abeokuta on Wednesday.
The faction which had the state party executives on ground held its primaries at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) where Ladi Adebutu emerged as the candidate.
Alhaji Muhammad Abacha, son of former military leader, Sani Abacha is the governorship candidate, polling 736 votes to defeat his closest rival, Jafar Sani-Bello, who scored 710 votes in the primary election on Wednesday in Kano state.
The Accountant General of Rivers State, Siminialayi Fubara, polled 721 votes to beat other contestants.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had declared Fubara Siminayi, and 58 others wanted for N435 billion fraud, a day before the primary.

Mr Ibrahim Kashim, former Secretary to the State Government, emerged as the party’s governorship flag bearer in Bauchi.
Ibrahim Kashim was the only aspirant of the party in the state.
A former Chief of Staff to Ex Gov Chimaroke Nnamani of Enugu State, Mr Peter Mbah, polled 790 votes to beat nine aspirants.
Expectedly, Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and his Adamawa counterpart, Ahmadu Fintiri emerged as candidates in their states.
Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Chief Sheriff Oborevwori won the ticket in Delta State.
Oborevwori, believed to be the preferred candidate of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, won the ticket.
Oborevwori polled 590 votes while David Edevbie scored 113 votes to come second, Senator James Manager polled 83 votes, Olorogun Fred Majemite polled 6 votes, Peter Mrakpor polled 9 votes, Kingsley Otuaro polled 9 votes, Omizu Odebala polled 4 votes and Kenneth Gbagi polled 1 vote.
A former member of the House of Representatives, Mr David Ombugadu, clinched the ticket in Nasarawa State.
In Gombe, Alhaji Jibrin Barde polled 160 votes to beat five other aspirants.
In Jigawa, Alhaji Mustafa Lamido, the son of former Gov. Sule Lamido of Jigawa, dusted other aspirant with 829 out of the 832 votes cast.
The Speaker of Benue House of Assembly, Mr Titus Uba, emerged with 731 out of the 851 votes beating others, including the deputy governor, Benson Abounu, who scored 81 votes.
Former Vice Chancellor of the Abia State University, Uturu, Prof. Uche Ikonne, polled 468 votes to defeat five other contestants.
