Our memories, our miseries?

Must read

The PSALMS and LAMENTATIONS are both Books of the Bible. *The former is largely upbeat in praise while the latter appears depressing.* The difference is in what the authors chose to focus their minds on.

*Listen to David, the Prophet of Praise:* “I will sing of the mercies of the LORD forever; With my mouth will I make known Your faithfulness to all generations” (Psalms 89:1, NKJV)

*Then listen to Jeremiah, the prophet of Lamentations:*_ _“My soul continues to remember these things and is so discouraged”_ _(Lamentations 3:20, GWT)

*The moment Prophet Jeremiah’s memories changed, his mood and song also changed:*
“The reason I can still find hope is that I keep this one thing in mind:  the Lord’s mercy … His compassion is never limited. It is new every morning…”
(Lamentations 3:21-23, GW)

*To move from Lamentations to Praise, choose what you focus your mind on. Think about God’s love and faithfulness.*
