A video of Malam Nasir el Rufai, the governor of Kaduna State has surfaced showing him telling party stalwarts, traders and voters not to return old Naira notes to the commercial banks; promising that if Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate emerged President, and the APC governorship candidate for Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, emerged Governor, the government will upturn the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) cashless policy, and jettison redesigned notes.

His comments seen as a campaign strategy to win votes, has been fingered as the reason for business people and traders still dealing in the old currency in Kaduna.
