24 hours after killing of traditional ruler, policemen gunned down in Mbaise

24 hours after a traditional ruler was gunned down in Imo State, two policemen have been shot dead at Ahiara junction in the Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State.

Unfortunately, too, a civilian within the vicinity was hit by a stray bullet.

Accounts of the tragic incident say the gunmen opened fire on the police officers who were in uniform.

Attacks against security forces are turning out to be a weekly occurrence in the state, which Governor was controversially elected for a second-term in office two weeks ago.

HRH Eze Ochulor, the traditional ruler of Otulu Amumara Autonomous Community in Ezinihitte-Mbaise LGA, who was abducted on the 25th November and later shot dead, in the state where every killing is now ascribed to unknown gunmen.

Reports say the state commissioner of police Danjuma Aboki, was Mbaise to boost the morale of his men.

Imo State Police spokesman, Henry Okoye, said: “The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Aboki Danjuma; Commander 34 Artillery Brigade; and Joint Task Force (JTF) operatives are combing the scene of crime for evidence that will possibly lead to the arrest of hoodlums responsible for the attack and killing of two policemen at Ahaira Junction, in Ahaizu Mbaise LGA of Imo State.”
