Wisdom for living: Dealing with insecurity

Must read

By Tope Banso.
“And you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power” (Colossians 2:10 New King James Version).
Insecurity, in the context of this message, refers to a feeling of uncertainty or anxiety about oneself, lack of confidence about one’s ability to do something well especially as one compares oneself with another person or others.
Those suffering from insecurity have self-doubt, probably because of past experiences, and feel others are better than them. Some feel threatened by the rise or success of others hence they engage in fierce, unfair and unhealthy competition. Yet there is so much they can achieve if they overcome insecurity.
You must come to a place in your life that you’re not threatened by anybody’s progress or success.
Moses showed he was a secure leader, not threatened by the rise of any subordinate. When Joshua protested to Moses to stop two of the seventy elders of Israel prophesying in the camp apart from the rest that Moses placed around the Tabernacle and prophesied there, Moses replied, “Are you jealous for my sake? I wish that all the LORD’s people were prophets, and that the LORD would put his Spirit upon them all!” (Numbers 11:29 New Living Translation)
Moses seemed to be looking ahead to the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon all flesh which Prophet Joel later prophesied (Joel 2:28-29) and was fulfilled on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2).
Insecure leaders sometimes frustrate out of their organizations subordinates who are assets to them. What a loss!
Great leaders are secure, and if you’re going to be great you must overcome insecurity otherwise you may eliminate the persons that God has sent to be a blessing to you. Jesus demonstrated an excellent example in Mark 9:38-41 similar to what Moses did. John the Baptist also did (John 3:26-31).
How you can deal with insecurity
1. Give your life to Jesus and be established in the God’s love for you. Keep yourself in His love (Jude 21; Romans 8:35-37).
2. Accept yourself. Don’t crave for people’s approval or compare yourself with anyone (2 Corinthians 10:12; Numbers 12; 16).
3. Know that nobody’s destiny is superior or a threat to yours. Don’t be jealous of anyone (Galatians 5:26; Mark 15:10; Matthew 27:18).
4. Acknowledge that everybody has an assignment here on earth and we’re all differently gifted (1 Corinthians 12:4-11; Matthew 25:14-30, 25:14-30; Luke 19:11-27).
5. Understand that being differently gifted doesn’t make one person better than the other (1 Corinthians 12:27-31).
6. Recognize that no single person can do it all; each person can only do his portion and we need each other (1 Corinthians 12:18-26).
7. Love others and you’ll receive love back (Ephesians 5:2; 1 Peter 4:8; Luke 6:27, 9:51-56, Romans 12:19, 13:10; Philippians 1:9; 2 Thessalonians 1:3).
8. Learn to celebrate others and others will celebrate you too (John 3:27-30, 1:26-27; Matthew 11:8-11; Philippians 2:3).
Deal with any form of insecurity in you.
This is wisdom for living, and it’s worth sharing. Please share.
PRAYER POINT:LORD God Almighty, please help me to deal with the  spirit of insecurity in every sphere of my life. I reject its operation in my life and. I shall fulfil God’s purpose for my life, in Jesus matchless name.
